Nokomis
From Shoreham Houseboats
Nokomis was built in 1941, in Hythe near Southampton, by the British Powerboat Company, which was founded by naval designer Hugh Scott-Payne. The boat started life as a WW2 motor-gun boat, but was later fitted out as a heavily armed motor-torpedo boat and numbered MTB456. Nokomis is one of about 6 similarly patterned craft on the riverbank, but 100's were built during the second world war. It has occupied it's present mooring since 1946, and owned by Martyn Baker since the mid 1980's.
