About The Site

This site was set up by me, Toby, a resident of the houseboats (more specifically Fische & Lunasea) for 24 years and counting. I decided to start this site after a previous attempt to create a community portal/information archive failed when the web-server it was hosted on disappeared. The original motivation for starting the website came from comments about our exhibition, retired on the river. The exhibition has been held during Brighton and Adur festivals since 2003, and contains exhibits of photos and archive material documenting the history of the houseboats in Shoreham. During the exhibition it became apparent that there was a void of information about the houseboats generally available, with people asking us if the houseboats float, if we have mains electricity, and many other questions which seem obvious to the average boat-resident.

Design

This site uses a modified version of the Rounded Blue Edition MediaWiki Skin, based on the Rounded Blue Edition WordPress theme by Ghyslain Armand at itcouldbethisone.com
